Optometry is a paramedical field that deals with eyes, their structures, vision, visual system, and vision information processing in human beings. Optometrists are trained to check any defect in vision, its treatment like prescribing and dispensing spectacles and contact lenses to improve vision.
This is a dynamic and challenging carrier, which allows one to help people, achieve personal growth, community respect, job flexibility, and financial success and offers virtually unlimited opportunities. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location.
The program is envisaged to develop multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at the paramedical level. The training will enable a student to become a competent person in providing services as an Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist, and Ophthalmic Assistant to the community in urban, semi-urban, and rural settings in private, semi-Governmental, and Governmental sectors.

Eligibility Criteria | The minimum age for admission must be 17 years as on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.Educational Qualification:10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSC/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.Lateral Entry – Candidate having two years Diploma in Optometry shall be given admission directly for remaining seats in Second Year of Bachelor Of Science in Optometry (B.Opto.) Course.Students shall be admitted once a year. |
